“Romeo and Juliet” is a romantic and at the same time tragic play by the classic of the world literature William Shakespeare (1564—1616). An ancient legend about the young lovers who belong to hostile families forms the basis of the tragedy and has not lost its actuality for centuries already. Love raises Romeo and Juliet over the absurdity of enmity which they got by right of inheritance, ennobles them, changes their souls and, finally, reconciles two families. But the finale of the play is tragic. The hostilities and regrettable coincidence entail the death of the lovers. This death is a defiant challenge to the society which, behind the hatred and strife, is unable to see the grandeur of love.

Only one glance, one touch, one dance — and ardent love flares up in two young hearts. It does not matter that its elects belong to hostile families; their love ascends over the enmity and does not consider the will of their parents. Romeo and Juliet are secretly married. But on the way to their happiness, there arises deplorable incident: aspiring for one another, they die. Death unites them in the eternal union, reconciles hostile families who so light-mindedly treated their feelings having been carried away by inherited hatred. Still, the lives which have been put on the altar of reconciliation are already impossible to be retrieved.

“Ромео і Джульєтта” — романтична і водночас трагічна п’єса класика світової літератури Вільяма Шекспіра (1564—1616). В основу сюжету твору покладено стародавню легенду про юних закоханих, що належать до воро­гуючих родів, яка не втрачає своєї актуальності ось уже декілька століть. Любов піднімає Ромео і Джульєтту над безглуздим ворогуванням, що дісталося їм у спадок, облагороджує їх, змінює їхні душі і врешті мирить дві родини. Але фінал п’єси трагічний. Ворожнеча і прикрий збіг обставин призводять до смерті закоханих. Ця смерть — гострий виклик родинам, суспільству, яке за ненавистю і розбратом не здатне побачити велич любові.
